NPR asks me about food and movies

What are three of my favorite food movies? You can find out by listening to the podcast from KUOW-FM. It’s odd to read or listen to interview sometimes. In this case, there’s a whole story about Mike making chocolate chip cookies with the heavy 1960s-era Hamilton Beach mixer that belonged to his mother He loves to do not just because he likes the cookies, but the act of making them brings back memories of the times they made them together. It’s like the last line in Like Water For Chocolate, which goes something like, “As long as someone makes her recipes, Tita will always be alive.” The act of passing down recipes and making them can be so powerful that it can bring someone you loved back, if only for a moment.
